Course Significance
Over a century of literature and research affirms play therapy as an effective method for addressing children's psychological distress and mental health issues. The child-centered play therapy approach establishes two critical cornerstones for child psychotherapy: a trusting relationship and theme identification. The trusting bond between therapist and child is the foundation of effective treatment, without which therapeutic outcomes are difficult to achieve. Building on this trust, the therapist must be able to identify the themes a child expresses through play to effectively address their psychological concerns and support their complete growth.
