Course Overview
Engrosser's Script is one of the most common Western calligraphy scripts, widely seen in modern design and decoration. Invented in the late 18th century in the United States, its defining feature is the consistent shading at every turn, creating an overall elegant and beautiful appearance. Experts have described it as an art form 'engraved on paper,' making it highly popular.
In this workshop, students will learn the history of Engrosser's Script, how to appreciate it, and how to write the script correctly. The instructor will also share methods for daily practice. Through interactive sessions, this workshop helps students grasp the essentials of writing Engrosser's Script in a short period.

- Duration: 15 hours (6 sessions)
- Schedule: December 2 to December 17, 2019. Every Monday and Tuesday, 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM
- Location: iCentre, 18/F, S,T, Block, Kin Heng Long Plaza, No. 258 Avenida do Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues, NAPE, Macau
- Class Size: 10 students
- Course Fee: MOP $2,300
- Material Fee: MOP $120 per set (payable in cash during class). Includes a stationery kit (pen holder, nib, and ink).
- Certificate: A certificate is awarded for achieving 70% attendance.
- Language of Instruction: Cantonese
- Suitable For: Individuals aged 18 and above.
Important Notes
- Students need to bring their own tools. The instructor can assist with purchasing.
- This course is NOT part of the Continuing Education Development Plan (DSEDJ).
- Non-Macau residents must pay the full tuition fee and are not eligible for the tuition subsidy.
Instructor
Belinda Chim (詹婉文)
- Born in Macau with 5 years of experience in English calligraphy.
- First encountered typography while studying for a design degree in Australia, sparking a deep interest in Western calligraphy.
- Subsequently learned from calligraphers from Australia, the USA, Vietnam, and Italy.
- Proficient in 6 scripts including Spencerian, Copperplate, Ornamental, American Cursive, and Modern Script.
- Has collaborated with international and local brands such as Chanel, Dior, D&G, and Roger Dubuis.
