Purpose

To teach the internationally recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) first aid theory and practical implementation methods, allowing participants to gain theoretical knowledge and operational skills in first aid outside of their regular studies.

Target Participants & Quota

• Target: Macau youth aged 18 to 45.
• Quota: 70 participants (first-come, first-served).

Recruitment Period

Recruitment begins on February 1, 2014, and ends on March 10, 2014.

Course Content

• Course: Basic Life Support (BLS) First Aid.
• Visit: To be determined.

Fees

• Registration and tuition fees are waived.
• A MOP 100 fee is required for books and teaching materials.
• 80% of the book and material fee will be refunded if attendance exceeds 70%.

Course Venue & Schedule

• Venue: Macau Kiang Wu Nursing College.
• Schedule: From March 16 to April 15, 2014 (excluding visits). Classes are held every Tuesday from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Instructor

Emergency specialists from Kiang Wu Hospital and Conde de São Januário Hospital.

Curriculum

Includes an introduction to first aid, coma and shock, first aid for common accidents (poisoning, animal bites, burns, frostbite), first aid for sports injuries, fractures and dislocations, nosebleeds, heatstroke, heat exhaustion, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
