About the Performance
"If" represents the yearnings, curiosities, and fantasies in life... revealing various social phenomena. Through Playback Theatre, performers and audiences take flight on the wings of imagination, opening boxes of memories for heartfelt dialogue. Through sharing, listening, and artistic transformation, we find resonance in each other's lives and connections never before imagined.
About Playback Theatre
Playback Theatre was founded in 1975 in the USA by Jonathan Fox and Jo Salas, combining elements of theatre, oral storytelling, and psychodrama. It was introduced to Macau in 1998. Zero Distance Cooperative is currently the only theatre group in Macau dedicated to the long-term research and promotion of Playback Theatre.
The process of Playback Theatre is improvisational and interactive, emphasizing sharing, equality, and respect. A conductor guides the audience to share personal feelings and experiences. After listening, actors and a live musician instantly transform the stories into gifts for the audience through movement, sound, or drama. This theatre form has been promoted in over 60 countries and communities worldwide and is widely applied in social services, education, and community cultural development.
