Program Overview
An intensive outdoor leadership training and mountaineering expedition to Taiwan's Jia Ming Lake (Jiaming Lake), designed to challenge and develop young leaders from Macau.
Objectives
- To help young people discover and develop their leadership potential and personal value.
- To cultivate holistic development skills: decision-making, problem-solving, risk-taking, communication, stress resilience, and servant leadership.
- To foster a spirit of service, self-discipline, and physical fitness.
- To nurture outstanding leaders with an international perspective and environmental awareness.
- To promote service-learning and respect for cross-cultural interactions.
Key Details
- Target Participants: 15 university students studying in Macau or overseas students holding Macau SAR ID cards.
- Activity Dates: December 20–27, 2014.
- Format: Outdoor leadership training, basic outdoor self-care, mountain safety trekking, and wilderness fundamentals.
- Location: Jia Ming Lake, Taiwan.
- Fees: MOP 5,000. Overseas students studying in Taiwan with Macau ID: MOP 2,100.
- Application Period: October 28 – November 7, 2014.
- Interview Date: November 10, 2014, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM (Location to be announced).
Selection Process
Conducted by a selection committee from the Youth Dream Association:
- Resume screening (qualified candidates proceed to interview).
- Interview.
- Overseas students will be interviewed via online platforms (e.g., Facebook or Skype).
Application Method
Complete the online registration form. Registration is only confirmed after receiving a success email from the association AND successfully paying the deposit.
Payment Information
- Deposit: MOP 2,000 (required to secure registration).
- Final Payment: MOP 3,000 (due three weeks before departure, by November 30, 2014).

Refund Policy
- Full refund or postponement if the event is canceled due to natural disasters (non-human factors).
- Deposit is non-refundable if a participant cancels after registration is complete.
- Full refund if the applicant is not selected.
- No refund for cancellations notified after the confirmation deadline (November 11, 2014).
- No refund for no-shows on the departure day.
- Participants are responsible for any issues arising from not carrying required travel documents.
Itinerary & Route
Primary Itinerary: Jia Ming Lake Trail
Day 1 (Dec 20): Macau → Taoyuan International Airport → Chientan Youth Activity Center.
Days 2-6 (Dec 21-26): Mountaineering course from Chientan Center to Jia Ming Lake and back.
Day 7 (Dec 27): Chientan Youth Activity Center → Taoyuan Airport → Macau.

Route Description
The Jia Ming Lake National Trail is part of the Central Mountain Range. It features diverse alpine ecology, including fir forests, deep valleys, cliffs, bamboo grasslands, and ridge lines, known for its stunning scenery, wildlife, and starry nights.
Contingency Plan: Nenggao Historic Trail
An alternative hiking itinerary (Nenggao Cross-ridge Trail) is prepared in case the primary route is unavailable due to permit issues or weather.

- The itinerary may be adjusted by instructors based on weather conditions, participant health, or hut availability, with safety as the top priority.
- Participants should maintain a flexible and open mindset to enjoy the mountaineering experience.
