Overview
An open call for the Young Knitwear Designer Competition 2025, seeking innovative fashion designers from Macau and the Greater Bay Area. This competition focuses on knitwear design, offering winners cash prizes, a study tour to Seoul, and opportunities to showcase their work at international fashion events in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Key Details
- Application Period: March 24, 2025 (09:35) – April 28, 2025 (17:00)
- Eligibility: Young designers aged 18–35 (as of the deadline) residing in Hong Kong, Macau, or other Greater Bay Area cities. Current fashion design students or individuals with knitwear design experience are preferred.
- Submission Requirements:
- Design series must consist of eight (8) knitwear outfits.
- Submission must include 8 pages of knitwear design and style drawings (one design per page).
- Each outfit must be at least 70% knitwear.
- All design drawings must be in A3 color format.
- Drawings can be hand-drawn or created using software like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
- A design brief (in WORD format) covering theme, inspiration, material selection, stitch count, knitting structure, and color application.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be evaluated based on:
- Overall design appearance
- Creativity
- Application of knitwear techniques
- Market value
Prizes & Opportunities for Finalists
- Grand Prize (1 winner): HK$30,000 cash + Seoul, South Korea study tour.
- Best Knitwear Talent Award (Hong Kong) (1 winner): HK$10,000 cash + Seoul study tour.
- Best Knitwear Talent Award (Greater Bay Area) (1 winner): HK$10,000 cash + Seoul study tour.
- Ten finalists will have their work showcased in fashion shows or exhibitions at international fashion events in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
- Finalists will gain experience promoting and selling their own knitwear designs on online and offline sales platforms.
How to Apply
Submit the completed application form along with a download link for your design drawings (in JPG/PNG/PDF format) by the deadline. You can submit:
- In person at the Garment Technology Hub (10th Floor, Ocean Industrial Centre Phase 2, Rua dos Pescadores, Macau).
- Via email to [email protected] with the subject line "(Your Full Name) – Young Knitwear Designer Competition".
Application Deadline: April 28, 2025, 5:00 PM (Macau Time).
Important Notes
- All entries must be original, unpublished designs. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
- Finalists must produce garments according to their submitted designs. The organizer reserves the right to reject or disqualify entries if the final product does not match the design drawings.
- Finalists must attend all competition-related events arranged by the organizer, including fashion show rehearsals and promotional activities.
- Finalists must collaborate with a Hong Kong manufacturer to produce the eight (8) knitwear outfits for the fashion show and exhibition.
- The organizer retains all rights to use entries for performances and displays. All photos and videos related to the competition are owned by the organizer and may be used in any form without additional compensation.
- The organizer is not liable for any damage or loss of entries.
- All submitted entries and documents are non-returnable.
- In case of discrepancy between the Chinese and English versions of the rules, the Chinese version shall prevail.
- The organizer reserves the right of final decision on all competition rules and any disputes.
