Program Overview

Kai Fong Association of Macau - Iao Hon Community Centre is launching "Youban Reading Companion," Macau's first family picture book sharing program. Parents can borrow beautiful picture books for free and participate in parent-child reading sessions organized by the centre.

Objectives & Philosophy

The Iao Hon Community Centre is dedicated to promoting parental education. Recognizing that parents are a child's first teachers and that family education is the most crucial, irreplaceable factor in a child's development, the centre believes the best educational moments arise from interactions during parent-child time. Shared reading is an excellent method to facilitate a child's growth.

This program aims to further promote family reading in Macau. By reading educational picture books in a parent-accompanied environment, the program seeks to:

• Increase children's interest in reading
• Strengthen communication between parents and children
• Help children establish healthy life values during their development
