About WMI
The World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) is an international mathematics competition that brings together organizations dedicated to promoting mathematics from over 30 countries and regions, including the USA, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Macau, Iran, Bahrain, Bulgaria, India, Kazakhstan, Russia, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Australia, Brazil, Turkey, Ukraine, Mongolia, Pakistan, and Laos.
Each year, preliminary rounds are held in these regions, selecting representatives from over 30,000 participants to compete in the WMI Grand Final. The final gathers mathematical elites from around the world, providing students with an international platform to exchange ideas, broaden their global perspective, and strive for glory.
The WMI facilitates the exchange of mathematics teaching experiences among nations, improves the quality of mathematics education, and identifies and nurtures talented individuals. It aims to stimulate students' interest in learning, enhance their problem-solving skills, and provide a sense of achievement through competition.
Competition Details
- Target Participants: Students for the 2025-2026 academic year
- Kindergarten students (6 years old or younger)
- Primary school students (Grades 1-6, separate groups per grade)
- Secondary school students (Grades 1-6, separate groups per grade)
- Preliminary Round Format: The test paper consists of two parts: Logical Thinking and Applied Operations. It is available in both Traditional Chinese and English versions.
- Awards (Macau Preliminary Round):
- Gold Award: Top 5%
- Silver Award: Top 15%
- Bronze Award: Top 25%
- Competition Process:
- Preliminary Round → Winners (Gold, Silver, Bronze) qualify for the Macau Team and can directly register for the 2026 WMI Grand Final.
- Some high-achieving participants may qualify for the Grand Final after a re-examination.
Awards & Recognition
- School Awards:
- The school with the highest total score among its representative teams (Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary) will receive championship, runner-up, and third-place trophies.
- Schools that recommend the most participants will receive the "Most Active Promoter of Mathematics Award."
- Learning Center/Tutor Awards:
- Mathematics tutors of Gold Award winners will receive an "Outstanding Tutor" certificate.
- Certificates are issued by the organizing bodies: World Mathematics Invitational Organizing Committee, American Olympiad Mathematics Association, Chinese Mathematics Association, and Korea Gifted Students Education Association.

- Exclusive Organizer: First Education Group is the sole competition examination and training handling unit for the WMI preliminary rounds in Hong Kong, Macau, the UK, and the USA (Washington, New York, San Diego, Hawaii).

- Email/WhatsApp/WeChat: Parents should complete the registration form and send it along with the payment receipt via email ([email protected]), WhatsApp (+852 6698 2466), or WeChat (firsteducationhk).
- Mail: Send the completed registration form with a cheque payable to "First Education Group" to: 15/F, On Ning Building, 71 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.
- School Teams: Register through the school. Each grade level group can recommend up to ten students to represent the school (school team awards will be calculated based on the top ten scores).
