About the Competition
The World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) is a prestigious international mathematics competition that brings together organizations dedicated to promoting mathematics from countries and regions including the United States, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Nigeria, Bulgaria, India, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Macau, and Iran. The annual finals are held in different countries, gathering mathematical elites from around the world to respond and participate together. This allows students to step onto the international mathematics stage, exchange ideas with top talents worldwide, broaden their global perspective, and strive for glory!
The WMI facilitates the exchange of mathematics teaching experiences among countries, improves the quality of mathematics education, and discovers and nurtures more outstanding mathematical talents. It aims to stimulate students' interest in learning, enhance their problem-solving abilities, and help them gain a sense of achievement through the competition process. All participants can use the WMI platform for self-assessment, broaden their horizons, and prepare for future challenges, making it a highly meaningful international event for students.

- Eligibility: Students for the 2018-2019 academic year
- Kindergarten students (6 years old or younger)
- Primary 1 to Primary 6 students (separate groups for each grade)
- Secondary 1 to Secondary 5 students (separate groups for each grade)
- Languages: Traditional Chinese and English versions of the test paper are available.

Competition Details
- Preliminary Test Structure: The test paper consists of two parts: Logical Thinking and Applied Operations.
- Awards (Preliminary Round):
- Gold Award: Top 5%
- Silver Award: Next 15%
- Bronze Award: Next 25%
- Competition Process:
- Preliminary Round → Gold and Silver Award winners can directly register for the 2019 WMI Finals.
- Bronze Award students who achieve excellent results after training and a re-screening can register for the 2019 WMI Finals.
- School Awards:
- The school with the highest total score in the Primary and Secondary School divisions will receive championship, runner-up, and third-place trophies for the Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary groups.
- Schools in Hong Kong (Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories) with the most participating students in the Primary and Secondary divisions will receive the "Most Active in Promoting Mathematics Award."

- Students who advance from the preliminary round are eligible to join the Hong Kong representative team to exchange and compete with mathematics talents from around the world.
- All final exam papers are jointly graded by professional mathematics teachers from various countries, ensuring a fair, just, and open competition.
