When East Meets West: The Art Story of Fu Shen and Lu Rongzhi
This 2017 Celebrity Public Lecture features two distinguished figures in the art world sharing their insights and experiences.
Fu Shen Professor Fu Shen has long been dedicated to the authentication of Chinese painting and calligraphy. A prolific author and relentless creator, his work spans ink painting and seal carving from his early years to his study of calligraphy. In the last decade, he has expanded into ceramic art, integrating his calligraphy, painting, and seal carving onto porcelain, showcasing profound scholarship and brilliant talent.
Lu Rongzhi Professor Lu Rongzhi began writing art critiques for Taiwanese magazines and newspapers in the mid-1970s. In late 1978, she founded an alternative space gallery in Southern California, USA, focusing on conceptual installation art and working as a curator. She is currently a leading figure driving new trends in the Chinese contemporary art scene.
During this lecture, both professors will draw upon their extensive experience across various art fields to exchange views with the Macao community on the trends and directions of Macao's cultural and creative development.
"Celebrity Public Lecture" is one of the flagship events of the China Cultural Exchange Association. Its purpose is to invite leading figures from the broader cultural field to share their insights, helping people from all walks of life and the general public deepen their understanding of culture, economy, and society. Over the past eleven years, the series has invited 20 notable guests to speak in Macao, including Venerable Master Hsing Yun, former Minister of Culture Professor Wang Meng, and ARATS President Chen Deming.
