Purpose

The Macao Polytechnic University School of Arts Student Union has consistently promoted creativity and supported the development of the local cultural and creative industries through various activities. In line with the government's recent emphasis on cultural, creative, and tourism sectors, and recognizing youth as the future pillars of Macao society, the Union aims to foster and showcase the creative potential of local students through academic events.

EC-ad (Macau) Media Limited, a leading outdoor advertising company in Macao, celebrates its 10th anniversary with a commitment to giving back to society by supporting academic activities. Together, they are organizing the "Welcome to Macau" Taxi Body Advertisement Design Competition.

Competition Concept

This competition aims to stimulate innovative thinking and beautify the city, adding vibrancy to the tourism industry. As taxis are often the first point of contact for tourists, transforming their plain exteriors into colorful, moving artworks can showcase Macao's unique cultural and artistic character to every visitor, significantly benefiting local tourism.

Eligibility

• Open to all Macao tertiary students.
• Each student may submit one entry.
• Submission Deadline: March 1, 2013, 5:00 PM.

Judging Criteria

• Material application
• Relevance to the theme
• Aesthetic appeal
• Creativity

Requirements

• Designs may utilize any space on the taxi body but must not compromise road safety.
• For designs using the taxi roof, government regulations stipulate a maximum size of 0.35m (H) x 1.08m (L) x 0.25m (D).

Submission Specifications

• Works must be color-printed on A3 white paper and mounted on an A2 black card.
• Both digital and hand-drawn works are accepted but must be designed within the provided vehicle outline template.
• Digital entries must include a printed copy and a CD/DVD.
• Hand-drawn entries must submit the original artwork.

Submission Method

Place the artwork, CD/DVD (if applicable), and entry form in an envelope labeled "Welcome To Macau Taxi Body Design Competition 2013" and submit to the drop boxes at:

Prizes

• Champion: MOP 5,000
• 1st Runner-up: MOP 3,000
• 2nd Runner-up: MOP 1,000
• Merit Awards (2 winners): MOP 500 per person

Winners will receive prize money and may have their designs displayed on actual taxis (subject to final approval by the organizing committee).

• Results Announcement: April 1, 2013, on the EC-ad website.
• Award Ceremony & Exhibition: April 6, 2012, 2:00 PM.
• Ceremony & Exhibition Venue: Exhibition Hall, G/F, Block A (Chi Un Building), Macao Polytechnic University.

Terms & Conditions

• The Macao Polytechnic University School of Arts Student Union reserves the final right to interpret the competition rules and results.
• Each participant may submit only one entry.
• Entries not meeting size or mounting specifications will not be judged.
• Submission implies the participant unconditionally transfers all copyrights to the Union, which may modify, use, reproduce, and distribute the work without further consent.
• The Union may use winners' details (name, school, age) for promotional purposes.
• All entries must be original; participants are solely responsible for any intellectual property claims.
• Works previously awarded in other competitions are ineligible.
• All submitted works will not be returned.
