Weekend Performances: Fun for All
Every weekend in July, a variety of cultural performances showcasing Chinese and Portuguese traditions take place for free at multiple scenic spots and along the "Step Out, Experience Macau's Communities" walking routes. Each performance lasts about 20 minutes, offering fun for all.
Chinese martial arts and lion dance are highly skilled traditional Chinese performing arts. The Drunken Dragon Dance is a traditional celebration of Macau's fishing community. Portuguese folk dance, originating from Portugal, is a collective dance with light and flexible steps. Cantonese opera combines beautiful, colorful costumes with unique singing styles, blending Chinese legends, music, and drama. Cantonese Opera and the Drunken Dragon Dance are listed on the "National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Items."
