Now in its ninth phase, this annual exhibition organized by Albergue SCM has been a celebrated event since 2010. The renowned architect and artist Carlos Marreiros invites like-minded friends from across the region to create their own unique interpretations of the traditional rabbit lantern.
The exhibition features 30 distinctive and creative rabbit lanterns. These lanterns are crafted by Carlos Marreiros and a diverse group of artists and designers, blending traditional Chinese craftsmanship with modern creativity. As a Macanese who grew up in Macau and studied abroad, Marreiros draws inspiration from his childhood memories of Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations and his unique perspective on Macau's charm. Using traditional materials like wire, bamboo, rattan, paper, and wrapping paper, he creates rabbit lanterns to convey the importance of traditional handicrafts and highlight Macau's multicultural identity.
