Set in the 1950s at the 'Optimistic Shoe Store' on Rua dos Ervanários in Macau, the play tells the story of Mei Kuen, the eldest daughter of the shop owner Ma Lok Koon. Over thirty and tired of her father's constant reminders about her marital status, Mei Kuen decides to take matters into her own hands. Determined to avoid the fate of being an 'old maid' and to find her 'ideal partner', she embarks on a proactive quest for love.
