This performance is a series work of the original production Song of the Migrants from the 28th Macao Arts Festival. The performance text is derived from the troupe's two-year journey of interviewing migrant construction workers in Macao. Adopting the form of documentary theatre, it uses their real words from the interviews as material to construct the performance text, blending elements of physical theatre. The aim is to create a "Song of Migrant Workers" about the local lower class.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Macao's handover, while we jubilantly celebrate this prosperous and beautiful scene, we also hope to shift the audience's focus to the migrant workers behind the architectural civilization—those who have silently contributed their sweat and labor to this city. The workers' efforts have created prosperity for the city, and we firmly believe their stories are an indispensable part of Macao's history.
