Event Overview
Presented under the "Macao Production, Local Sentiment" series by the Macao Foundation, this special concert commemorates the 12th anniversary of the passing of Chinese flute master Zhao Songting. It features four of China's most renowned flutists performing alongside the Hubei Chinese Carillon Orchestra and the Macao Cheong Hong Orchestra, under the baton of National Level I conductor Hong Xia.

Concert Program
The program features classic works by Master Zhao Songting and several large-scale flute concertos.
- Selected Repertoire: "Flying Partridges", "The Secluded Orchid in Spring", "Zhejiang Wu Opera Tune", "Sleepwalking in Tian Mu Mountain", "Postlude of Poetry of Dynasty Chu", "Snow of the Broken Bridge".
- World Premiere: "Snow of the Broken Bridge" was specially composed for this concert by Professor Liu Xijin, President of the Chinese National Orchestral Music Association.
Artist Biographies
Zhan Yongming
- Flutist and Professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.
- Graduated from Zhejiang Art School, Central Conservatory of Music, Academy of Chinese Arts, and Western Sydney University.
- Topped the national Chinese Musical Instrument Solo Competition in the 1980s.
- Famous works: "Listening to the Fountain", "Dawn of the West Lake in Spring", "The Ballad of Lan Huahua".
Dai Ya
- Flutist who began studying at age 7 under Master Zhao Songting.
- The only three-time consecutive champion in the flute category of the national "Chinese Music Contest".
- Professor, Deputy Director of the Chinese Music Faculty, and Director of the Wind Music Research Center at the Central Conservatory of Music.
Du Rusong
- National Level I Performer and Professor at the Hangzhou Normal University Conservatory of Music.
- Studied under Master Zhao Songting.
- Recipient of the "Outstanding International Artist Award" from the University of California.
- Compositions include "Boat carrying the Moon", "Girls' Complaint", "Wild Geese flying to the South".
Zhang Hongyang
- National Level I Performer who began playing flute at age 9.
- Studied under Master Zhao Songting.
- Head and Soloist of the Hubei Chinese Carillon Orchestra.
- Known overseas as the "Mysterious Oriental Magic Flute".
Hong Xia
- National Level I Conductor, graduated from Shenyang Conservatory of Music and Central Conservatory of Music.
- Conducted major works including "Green Peak can’t be covered", "Years as Songs", "Four Masterpieces", and "Moon Night over the River of Spring".
- Known for an impressive, exciting yet delicate conducting style.
