A Masterpiece by a Master of Chinese Theatre

Starring the hugely popular host He Jiong and written/directed by the master of theatre, Stan Lai, The Book in the Water is arguably his most poetic work. It is imbued with the free-flowing beauty of ink wash painting, accompanied by melancholic music and exquisite, delicate stage design. Unhurried, it uses simple strokes to outline profound questions about the essence of life. With his signature light touch and broad vision, Stan Lai expands the characters' experiences to all of humanity, allowing the audience to gain more love and care from the story. Originally postponed due to the pandemic, this performance follows Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land and The Village as another opportunity for Stan Lai to connect with Macau audiences through theatre.
