Abstract
Based on the triad of film, interactivity, and experimentation, the applied research project The Forking Paths, developed at the Centre for Research in Arts and Communication (CIAC), endeavors to find alternative narrative forms in the field of Cinema, and more specifically, in the subfield of Interactive Cinema.
The films within The Forking Paths project focus on the interconnectivity between the film narrative and the viewer, who is given the possibility to be more active and engaged. Simultaneously, the films undertake research on the development of audio-visual language.
Speaker Biography
Bruno Mendes da Silva
- Graduated in Cinema and Video in 1995 from the School of Arts of Oporto (ESAP).
- Completed a post-graduation in Arts Management in 1998 at the Institute of European Studies of Macau (IEEM).
- Received his PhD in Literature and Cinema (Comparative Literature) in 2008 from the University of the Algarve (UALG), Portugal.
- Completed his Post PhD in Interactive Cinema in 2016, also from UALG.
- Currently serves as the Coordinator of the Communication Sciences area at the School of Education and Communication (ESEC) and is the Director of the degree in Communication Sciences.
- Holds the position of Vice Coordinator of the Research Centre for Arts and Communication (CIAC).
