The Sinulog Festival is one of the largest and most colorful festivals in the Philippines, with a very long history. Celebrated annually on the third Sunday of January on the island of Cebu, it is a dance festival that pays homage to the country's pagan history and its acceptance of Christian traditions.
Since 2003, Filipinos working and living in Macau have held large-scale celebrations for the Sinulog Festival, adding an exotic flair to the city. The 2018 Macau Sinulog Festival will commence at 11:00 AM. Devotees will first attend a mass at St. Lawrence's Church, followed by a procession carrying the Santo Niño (Holy Child) statue. Participants, dressed in elaborate costumes and carrying the Santo Niño image, will dance forward to the beat of drums, creating a vibrant and culturally rich spectacle.
