Overview
From September 5 to 11, 2014, the "Shanghai Opera Macau Tour" series, presented by the Shanghai Opera Art Centre, illuminated the Macao Cultural Centre. This grand festival of Chinese opera featured five spectacular performances by renowned artists from the Centre's four major troupes: Shanghai Peking Opera Theatre, Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe, Shanghai Huju Opera Theatre, and Shanghai Yueju Opera Theatre.

September 5, 20:00 - Shanghai Yueju Opera Theatre: Dream of the Red Chamber

- Synopsis: Adapted from the classic Chinese novel, this masterpiece centers on the tragic love story of Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu, reflecting the rise and fall of a feudal aristocratic family. It is hailed as a milestone in the stage adaptation of Dream of the Red Chamber.
September 7, 20:00 - Shanghai Huju Opera Theatre: Thunderstorm
- Cast: Fan Yi (Mao Shanyu), Lu Ma (Chen Yu), Zhou Puyuan (Wang Mingda), and others.
- Synopsis: Adapted from Cao Yu's iconic play, this Huju Opera classic masterfully blends profound literary depth with the unique artistic charm of the genre. The new version is directed by Cao Qijing and stars the acclaimed performer Mao Shanyu.

- Highlights: A collection of iconic pieces representing different schools and styles, including works by masters like Xun Huisheng and Zhou Xinfang.
September 11, 20:00 - Shanghai Peking Opera Theatre: The Case of Chen Shimei (Executing Chen Shimei)
- Cast: Bao Zheng (An Ping), Qin Xianglian (Jiang Yishan), Wang Yanling (Chen Shaoyun), Chen Shimei (Fu Xiru), and others.
- Synopsis: The classic tale of justice where the upright official Bao Zheng confronts the heartless scholar-official Chen Shimei, who abandoned his wife and children.
