About the Scholarship

The Seedling Scholarship, jointly organized by three major community associations, has entered its sixth year since its inception in 2011. The organizing bodies aim to encourage students to study diligently and foster their holistic development in morality, intellect, physique, social skills, and aesthetics, thereby cultivating a talent pool for the Macau SAR. The scholarship is now open for applications from university, secondary, and primary school students.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be:
  • Valid members of the Federation of Trade Unions of Macau (工聯), the Macau General Union of Neighbourhood Associations (街總), or the Women's General Association of Macau (婦聯), OR the children of such members who hold a Macau Resident Identity Card.
• For Secondary & Primary Students: Must be enrolled in a Macau school during the 2015/2016 academic year.
• For University Students: Must be under 25 years old and enrolled as a full-time student in a Macau or overseas institution.

Application Period

• University Students: July 11 – 16, 2016
• Secondary & Primary Students: July 20 – 26, 2016

Applicants must submit their applications in person at the offices of the respective organizing associations during office hours. Important: Applicants should avoid duplicate applications, as this will lead to disqualification.

Academic Requirements

• Secondary & Primary Students:
  • Annual average score of 85 or above.
  • All individual subject scores of 70 or above.
  • Conduct grade of 'B' or above.
• University Students:
  • Must pass all subjects.
  • Annual Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or above.

Excellence Award

Students who received the Seedling Scholarship consecutively in 2013, 2014, and 2015 are eligible to apply for the Excellence Award. The final list of awardees will be determined and announced by the Scholarship Review Committee.

Award Activities

Successful applicants may apply for the following exchange tours:

• University Awardees: "One Belt, One Road" Exchange Tour to Lanzhou and Dunhuang, Gansu (August 17–21).
• Secondary School Awardees: Patriotic Exchange Tour to Nanning, Guangxi (August 19–21).
• Primary School Awardees: Macau Half-Day Parent-Child Tour (September 4).
