SEAMO (South East Asian Mathematical Olympiad) was first organized in 2016 by Singapore's best-selling math book author, Terry Chew. The SEAMO X International Finals were introduced in 2019, with the finals held on Australia's Gold Coast and in Singapore in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
Over 20 countries have participated, including Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Pakistan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, the USA, the UK, Australia, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and Brazil, with over 20,000 participants in the preliminary rounds.
Terry Chew is the first author in Singapore to publish a series of Mathematical Olympiad books. His series "Unleash the Maths Olympian in You!" is still used as the gold standard across Southeast Asia. He is also the author of "Maths Heuristics," which helps mainstream students achieve A* in the PSLE by equipping them with fundamental problem-solving strategies and tools over 28 lessons. His books are used in over 8 countries and translated into more than 3 languages.
His unique teaching method—the RA*CE framework—is widely adopted across Asia, Europe, and the US, and he frequently appears in international media. Participants can strengthen their knowledge and skills in Olympiad mathematics through learning and training in the SEAMO competition.
