Overview
The 2014 Macao Science Center Multimedia Design Contest, themed "Science in Focus," invited local students and residents to create multimedia works promoting scientific education. The contest featured two categories: Science Education Short Videos and Micro-film Production.
Contest Categories
- Science Education Short Video: For secondary school students in Macao.
- Micro-film Production: For students of Macao's higher education institutions or any interested Macao SAR resident.
Key Dates & Schedule
- Briefing Sessions: November 20 & 21, 2013 (Wednesday & Thursday), 18:30–19:30 at the Macao Science Center Conference Centre.
- Submission Deadlines:
- Science Education Short Video: November 21, 2013 – May 25, 2014.
- Micro-film Production (Two Phases):
- Phase 1: November 21, 2013 – February 23, 2014.
- Phase 2: March 10, 2014 – May 25, 2014.
- Results Announcement & Awards Ceremony:
- Phase 1 results for Micro-film Production announced on March 10, 2014.
- Final results for both categories announced in mid-June 2014, with an awards ceremony at the Macao Science Center Conference Centre.
Participation Rules
- Teams of up to 5 members.
- Each team can submit only one entry per category.
- Participants can only belong to one team.
- A "Theme Report" detailing the creative concept and production method must be submitted with the entry.
- Science Education Short Videos can have two guiding teachers (one for science, one for video production).
- Entries must be original, unpublished, and not previously awarded.
- Content must be wholesome, free of obscenity or violence, and comply with Macao law.
- Subtitles in Chinese, Portuguese, or English are required.
Prizes
- Each category awards Champion, 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up, and five Merit Awards.
- All participants receive two complimentary tickets each to the Macao Science Center Exhibition Centre and Planetarium.
- Winning schools in the Science Education Short Video category receive a commemorative banner.
- Prize money is distributed by cheque after any required modifications to the winning works are completed.

- Submission Method: Deliver the completed registration form, Theme Report, and entry (on DVD) in person to the Macao Science Center Main Hall Ticketing Counter.

- The organizer reserves the right to use entries for promotional purposes related to the contest.
- The judging panel consists of representatives from the organizer and local experts.
