Calling All Writers! ✏️
The Legal Affairs Bureau is organizing the 'Same Roots, Same Heart, Walk with the Law' essay competition to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the promulgation of the Macao Special Administrative Region Basic Law.
🤝 Citizens are invited to express, through writing, the developmental achievements Macao has made since its return under the protection of the Constitution and the Basic Law, the increasingly better life it has brought to residents, and to convey feelings of patriotism and love for Macao, as well as messages of respecting the rule of law, understanding, and abiding by the law.
Submission Requirements
- The essay should revolve around themes such as the protection of the Constitution and the Basic Law, the development and changes of the Macao SAR since its return, the state of social rule of law, and residents' awareness of law-abiding and law-protecting.
- There are no restrictions on the literary genre.
- The competition has two categories:
- Secondary School Category: For local Macao students from Form 1 to Form 6.
- Open Category: For Macao residents, and local and non-local students enrolled in Macao higher education institutions.
- Word Limits:
- Secondary School Category: No more than 2,000 words per entry.
- Open Category: No more than 3,000 words per entry.
- Participants may submit multiple entries, but only the highest-scoring entry from each participant will be considered for awards.
Awards
Both categories will award one Champion, one First Runner-up, one Second Runner-up, and five Merit Awards.
- Secondary School Category Prizes:
- Champion: MOP 4,000 and a certificate.
- First Runner-up: MOP 3,000 and a certificate.
- Second Runner-up: MOP 2,000 and a certificate.
- Open Category Prizes:
- Champion: MOP 6,000 and a certificate.
- First Runner-up: MOP 5,000 and a certificate.
- Second Runner-up: MOP 4,000 and a certificate.
- Merit Awards (both categories): MOP 500 and a certificate each.
- The list of winners will be announced on the Legal Affairs Bureau website (www.dsaj.gov.mo) on November 27, 2020.
How to Participate
Interested participants can view the competition rules and download the entry form on the Legal Affairs Bureau website or its WeChat subscription account.
Submission Methods:
- By Email: Send the completed entry form along with the essay to [email protected].
- By Mail/In-Person: Place the printed entry form, the essay (printed on A4 paper, handwritten manuscripts not accepted), and the related electronic file CD in a sealed envelope. Deliver it to:
