To enhance residents' interest in learning about computers and encourage more people to actively participate in lifelong learning, Caritas Macau has launched the "Refurbished Computer Application Scheme." The aim is to provide individuals with learning needs access to computer-related products to assist their studies and enable them to enjoy the benefits of technology.
Target Audience: All Macau residents
Key Details
1. Application Eligibility
- Applicants must be Macau residents.
- Priority processing will be given to applicants who meet any of the following criteria:
- Currently receiving financial assistance, disability allowance, or elderly allowance from the Social Welfare Bureau.
- Currently receiving other government assistance (e.g., short-term food assistance, employment guidance programs, social housing residents).
- Individuals recommended by social workers, school teachers, etc.
2. Application Period
- There are two application periods each month.
- First period: From the 1st to the 15th of the month.
- Second period: From the 16th to the last day of the month.
- Priority applicants within the same period will be processed first.
- Computers are limited in quantity and will be allocated until stocks last.
3. Application Procedure
- Complete the application form and submit it along with required documents by delivery, fax, or mail to the organization.
- Submit a copy of your Macau Resident Identity Card.
- For priority applicants, provide the corresponding proof documents:
- Proof document from the Social Welfare Bureau showing the applicant's name and the relevant assistance program.
- Proof document from other assistance agencies showing the applicant's name and the relevant assistance program.
- For recommendations, the recommender (e.g., social worker, teacher) must complete the "Reason for Recommendation" section of the form.
- Applicants under 18 must have the application signed by a parent or guardian.
4. Payment Method
- Successful applicants will be notified individually by the organization.
- Payment must be made at the organization within 3 working days after approval.
5. Delivery Method
- Applicants can choose to collect the desktop computer from the organization.
- If delivery service is chosen, a delivery fee of MOP 30 per set applies, with a general processing time of 15 working days.
- If delivery is unsuccessful, applicants must collect the computer from the organization, and the delivery fee will be refunded.
6. Repair Service
- Desktop computers obtained through this scheme come with a 3-month hardware repair service, calculated from the collection date.
- The repair service covers hardware only and does not include software tutorials.
7. Terms and Conditions
- Each person (or household) is limited to one desktop computer.
- All computer products under this scheme are refurbished and are for personal use only. They must not be transferred or sold for profit.
- The products are refurbished and functional. Those who cannot accept second-hand products should not apply.
- For fairness, computer products are allocated randomly. Brand or model selection is not available. If the chosen processor model is sold out, the organization will notify the applicant to choose another model or receive a refund.
- For faulty computers, applicants must first call the organization to report and schedule a repair, then return the computer for inspection. If a hardware issue is confirmed, applicants may choose to exchange for another product (price difference must be paid) or receive a refund. Product exchange is limited to once.
- Computers do not come with Bluetooth, video recording, or HDMI devices pre-installed. If such devices are included, their functionality is not guaranteed.
- The following software will be pre-installed:
- Operating System: Windows 10 Professional for Refurbished PCs
- Office Software: Microsoft Office 2010 Home and Business for Refurbished PCs
- Keep the proof documents for Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software safe.
- Caritas Macau reserves the final right of decision and interpretation for this scheme and may modify these guidelines without prior notice.
