To continuously implement the environmental policy of resource recycling and reuse, the Environmental Protection Bureau (DSPA) continues to hold the 'Red Packet Recycling Campaign' during the Lunar New Year period. The campaign promotes the environmental message of 'Use less new, reuse more, don't waste' to the public, encouraging the reuse or recycling of old red packets to reduce paper waste.
Over the past five years, with the enthusiastic participation of Macau citizens and the strong support from all sectors of society, approximately 9.08 million red packets have been collected. After sorting, about 2.83 million were deemed suitable for reuse.
Starting from January 10, 2022, the DSPA will distribute red packets that were sorted and deemed reusable from last year's collection to the public for free. Distribution locations include:
For specific location lists, please refer to the PDF links provided in the original announcement.
From February 6 (the sixth day of the Lunar New Year) to February 23, 2022, the DSPA will set up red packet collection points across all districts of Macau. This makes it convenient for citizens to recycle intact, used red packets for reuse, putting environmental protection into practice.
Recommendation: It is advised to keep any brand new, unused red packets for future use.
To improve sorting efficiency, please dispose of the following types of red packets as general waste paper for recycling, as they are not suitable for reuse:
