Part of the "On Stage with the Masters" series, this concert features renowned cellist Ray Wang performing with the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Huei-ming Twu.
Ray Wang, Cello Head of the Junior Music Department and Senior Lecturer (Strings) at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Born into a musical family, Wang studied cello under his father Wang Le and cellist Xia Jiabao. An active soloist and chamber musician, his performances have spanned across Greater China, Chicago, Cremona, Florence, Cuba, Vietnam, London, Luxembourg, New York, Saarbrücken, Segovia, Vancouver, and more. He has collaborated with orchestras including the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, Macao Chamber Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Havana Chamber Orchestra, and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
Huei-ming Twu, Conductor Professor at the Department of Music, Tainan University of Technology. He holds dual Master's degrees in Orchestral Conducting and Violin Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, graduating with Distinction. Twu has participated in prestigious music festivals including the Aspen Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Festival, and the International Music Festival at the former East German Liszt Academy. He has studied under maestros such as Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, Kazuyoshi Akiyama, and Gennady Rozhdestvensky. He has served as conductor of the New England Symphony Orchestra and has guest conducted numerous orchestras in the US, Germany, Hong Kong, and mainland China.
