Overview

Since 2011, the Macau Experimental Video Festival (EXiM) has invited curators from different regions to curate a range of screenings, live projections, and multimedia (electronic music, sound + moving image) performances. The festival showcases genres including 16mm experimental films, video art, and experimental animation.

This year's edition, EXiM 2020, features two solo exhibitions, one group exhibition, and two talks on experimental moving images.

Featured Exhibitions

“Straightforward” – Solo Exhibition by Chen Qiang

The artist found that his thoughts on his living environment had been buried in the “evolution” process of his artwork. With the passage of time, the artist has been constantly improving the accuracy of the focus in his work. The artwork presented in this exhibition “straightforwardly” depicts the struggles and revelries of individuals in today’s society.

“Heart to Heart” – Experimental Video Group Exhibition

The Chinese title of the exhibition is named after an old Hong Kong film “Sworn Brothers”. The exhibition has invited eight Chinese artists to show their current “life” in their cities under the pandemic, composing a story collection of Chinese experiences through experimental films.
