About the Call

The Macao Cultural Centre (CCM) has long been dedicated to encouraging innovation and diversity in artistic creation among local stage practitioners. Continuing this mission, it is launching the "Open Box Project 2014" and is now calling for submissions of local theatre works. Selected projects will be staged in February 2014.

About the Open Box Project

Aiming to break traditional theatrical boundaries and explore the infinite possibilities of the stage, the "Open Box Project" series focuses on discovering new performance forms, content, and collaborations. It serves as a vital experimental platform for nurturing emerging local artists.

For the 2014 edition, the project will further expand creative freedom. Creators and performers will have the liberty to design their own audience seating arrangements. Furthermore, multiple experimental spaces within the CCM complex will be made available as performance venues, including:

• The Small Theatre
• ‧ART (Dot Art)
• The Outdoor Art Square
• The Cultural Centre Plaza

This initiative aims to inspire new thinking in spatial utilization and technical production, allowing artists to fully showcase their potential and creativity.

Support Provided

The Macao Cultural Centre will provide selected groups with comprehensive support, including:

• Rehearsal space
• Promotional assistance
• Production subsidies

This support allows artists to focus entirely on creating and rehearsing their new works.

• Eligibility: Registered non-profit art groups in Macao or local performing arts practitioners.
