Event Overview

Celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with the spectacular contemporary acrobatic drama 'Butterfly Lovers'. This performance will be staged at The Venetian Theatre, offering a unique and artistic way to commemorate the National Day holiday.

Performance Details

'Butterfly Lovers' is based on the classic Chinese love story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai. It masterfully blends the imagery of their transformation into butterflies with the philosophical concept of Zhuangzi's butterfly dream. The narrative beautifully portrays the journey of life—from conception and incubation to struggle, breaking free from the cocoon, and soaring into freedom.

The production utilizes a diverse range of artistic forms including acrobatics, dance, and drama to create vivid scenes and imagery. A highlight is the use of 'shoulder ballet' to depict the epic 'eternal butterfly love', showcasing both the aesthetic of traditional Chinese culture and the innovation of contemporary stage performance.
