My Ocean Dream: Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Marine Life Painting Competition 2014

To enhance public awareness and concern for marine life, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) and the Marine and Water Bureau of Macao, in collaboration with the Guangdong Ocean and Fishery Bureau, the Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, and the Hong Kong Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, jointly organized the "My Ocean Dream – Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Marine Life Painting Competition 2014."

About the Competition

The ocean covers nearly three-quarters of the Earth's surface and is home to a vast diversity of life, including the rare Chinese white dolphin and various fish, shellfish, jellyfish, and anemones found in Macao's waters. This competition aims to encourage students, youth, and the general public to use art and creativity to express their feelings for marine life and promote the importance of conservation and protecting the marine environment. The organizers hope the competition will inspire more citizens to actively support and participate in marine conservation efforts.

Competition Details

• Competition Period: September 1 to November 20, 2014 (Submission Deadline: November 20, 5:00 PM)
• Regions: Macao, Hong Kong, and Guangdong
• Categories: Primary School, Secondary School, and Open categories in each region.
• Prizes (per region/category): Champion (1st), Runner-up (2nd), Second Runner-up (3rd), Merit Awards (5), and Encouragement Awards (5).
• Grand Champion: The winning entries from the Macao region will compete with the champions from Guangdong and Hong Kong for the overall Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Grand Champion title.
• Special Incentive (Macao Region): All participants who submit entries are automatically entered into a lucky draw for the "Inner Harbour Tour." Twenty winners will receive two tickets each for the tour on December 13.

"Understanding Marine Life" Workshop

To complement the painting competition and further public understanding of marine life, the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Marine and Water Bureau organized the "Understanding Marine Life" workshop.

Workshop Details

• Dates: September 21, October 11, October 19, and November 8, 2014
• Time: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
• Language: Conducted in Cantonese.
• Content: Includes a visit to the Maritime Museum and the Navigation School to learn about the marine environment and its creatures, along with an art instructor teaching drawing techniques to appreciate marine life from an artistic perspective.
• Fee: Free of charge.
• Capacity: 60 participants per session.
• Gift: Successful registrants who attend will receive a souvenir. Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable bags and drinking water to support environmental protection.
