About the Performance

Wishing to better know his lands, the Emperor calls an explorer to introduce the cities he has travelled throughout the years. Adding to his impressions, the explorer brings objects collected from faraway lands. Will these memories be enough for the old ruler to ever understand the distant reality of his vast domains?

Protean Cities is a multimedia theatre piece inspired by Italo Calvino's masterpiece Invisible Cities. This experimental production by Dirks Theatre Arts Association (卓劇場) takes the audience on a journey through various urban landscapes, using precise physical movements and contemporary video projection to explore diverse worlds and challenge the imagination.
