Speaker Nick Hui is a psychological counselor, registered art (expressive arts) therapist, and holds a Master's in Expressive Arts Therapy from the University of Hong Kong. With years of experience in youth counseling at schools, he now focuses on applying expressive arts therapy to children and adolescents in community and school settings. He has addressed issues such as emotional distress, self-harm, peer relationships, adaptation problems, low learning motivation, parenting, and attention difficulties. His clients range from children and adolescents to adults, stroke patients, individuals with mental illness, varying degrees of intellectual disabilities, and those with special needs (autism, ADHD, developmental disorders, language delays, etc.). Mr. Hui specializes in emotional distress, mental health, and personal growth needs, practicing a 'person-centered' approach and using various art mediums for individual, group, and workshop psychological counseling.
During this session, he will share selected chapters from the book 'Mindfulness and Various Art Therapies: Theory and Practice,' combining his professional background and practical experience. He will guide participants in an accessible way to learn the basic concepts of mindfulness, meditation, and art therapy, and how to apply them in work with diverse populations and self-care.
