Overview
The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) and the Macau Bird Watching Society jointly present the "Migratory Bird Quest – Wetland Bird Watching" activity. This event aims to promote wetland conservation in Macau and increase public awareness of migratory bird ecology through engaging lectures, experience sharing, and on-site observation.
Wetlands, alongside forests and oceans, are one of the world's three major ecosystems and are often called the "Kidneys of the Earth." Macau's urban wetlands, though compact, play a vital role in maintaining the region's ecological balance and serve as crucial habitats for birds.

- Observation Site: Cotai Wetland Area
- Target Participants: Macau residents aged 6 to 80
- Quota: 30 participants (first-come, first-served)
Registration & Fees
- Registration Period: October 24–26, 2016
- Registration Method: In-person registration at all IACM service stations and citizen service centers.
- Fee: MOP 5 per person.
- Free Admission: Seniors aged 65 and above, and children aged 12 and below.
Activity Highlights
- Educational lecture on wetland ecosystems and bird ecology.
- Guided field observation of birds in the Cotai wetlands.
- Learn basic birdwatching techniques and how to coexist peacefully with wildlife.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own drinking water to support environmental protection by reducing plastic bottle use.
Transportation
- A dedicated shuttle bus is provided.
- Departure: 08:00 from Kun Iam Temple (Guanyintang) in Macau.
- Intermediate Stops: Yeng Chi Un Bus Stop in Taipa & Largo do Presidente António Ramalho Eanes Bus Stop (Coloane Town Center). Please indicate your boarding/alighting point during fee payment.
