Event Overview
The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) and the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM) jointly organized the "Mooncake Box Recycling Drive 2015" during the Mid-Autumn Festival period. This initiative aimed to reduce waste and promote recycling.
How to Participate
- Recycling Period: September 21 to October 16, 2015
- How it works: Citizens could exchange one mooncake box for one lucky draw ticket at designated recycling points.
- To enter the draw: Fill in your name and phone number on the ticket and drop it into the collection box at the recycling point.
- Prizes: Winners could receive cash prizes and supermarket gift vouchers.
- Final Destination: All collected mooncake boxes were sent for recycling and remanufacturing.
Recycling Points
Participants could drop off boxes at:
- 292 collection points under UGAMM, including affiliated associations, community centers, service offices, and member buildings.
- Three IACM service stations (Central District, Toi San, Hoi Van).
- Two Environmental Information Centres (Jardim da Flora, Mong-Há Hill).
- Three Citizen Service Centres (Central District, Northern District, Islands District).
Grand Prize Draw & Exhibition
- Draw Date & Time: October 31, 2015, 4:00 PM
- Location: Green Willow Garden Leisure Area (綠楊花園休憩區)
- Activities: Stage performances and a thematic photo exhibition.
- Special Exhibit: A "Glass Sand Panda Sculpture" made from recycled glass bottles and mooncake boxes, created through a collaboration between IACM and the Macao Student Visual Art Space, showcasing the fusion of recycled materials and art.
Recycling & Upcycling Workshops
To promote waste reduction and reuse, IACM and the Macao Student Visual Art Space hosted "Recycled Waste Creative Craft Workshops."
- Session 1: October 31 at Green Willow Garden Leisure Area.
- Session 2: November 28 next to Flower City Park in Taipa.
- Session 3: December 26 at Tap Seac Square.
- Activity: On-site registration for workshops where participants, guided by an instructor, could paint and decorate recycled mooncake tins, transforming them into practical and artistic eco-decorations.
