MamaSheMade is a story of musical and poetic introspection, told by Portuguese singer and composer Sheylla Barros. Her voice is accompanied by French double bassist Julie Dehondt and the rhythmic section of fellow French musician Geoffrey Dugas.
The result is a blend of "neo-jazz lyricism" with a touch of "urban melancholy," as defined by the band's manifesto. The sound is punctuated by electronic and acoustic sonorities that offer a journey through new fado, with lyrics in Portuguese, English, and French.
Between soul jazz and fado, the project also incorporates scenic expression in each live concert and the crossing of cultures and emotions. MamaSheMade is the fruit of the meeting of two musical universes—initially those of Sheylla and Julie—establishing a dialogue between two feminine sensibilities, energies, and vibrations.
In this concert or performance, the proposal is to explore new fields of jazz, fado, and the universe of "spoken word," embracing multiculturalism and its advantages, which allows for endless, limitless creation.
In a simple setting with just the three artists, the show also lives from the play of lighting that creates the perfect frames for each song, as if changing cities, languages, characters, and circumstances with each step of the narrative.
Free admission. Don't miss it.
