To enhance public understanding of the cultures and customs of countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" initiative, the Cultural Affairs Bureau continues its lecture series in 2018. The fifth to eighth lectures, held from October to November, introduce the local conditions and customs of Israel, Vietnam, Egypt, and Malaysia. The speakers are not only experts in local culture but have also lived in these countries and are proficient in the local languages. Their fascinating personal anecdotes promise an engaging and unmissable experience.
This is the eighth lecture in the series, titled "Malaysia: A Colorful Nation in the South Seas Rain". It will be delivered by Professor Zhuang Liwei, Director of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies at Jinan University. The lecture will explore Malaysia's unique "Baba Nyonya" culture from multiple perspectives, including daily life, religion, history, and the economy.
Note: Attendees who participate in three or more lectures from this series will receive a commemorative gift.
