About the Program

Some batteries contain heavy metals and electrolyte solutions. If not sorted and treated properly, they can pose a certain level of environmental impact. To optimize the subsequent treatment of waste batteries, it is necessary to collect them separately. To provide citizens with more convenient waste battery collection channels, the Environmental Protection Bureau is collaborating with various organizations to establish additional collection points, encouraging citizens to practice environmental protection.

This program primarily collects disposable batteries (including cylindrical and button cells) and rechargeable batteries (including Lithium-ion (Li-ion), Lithium-polymer (Li-polymer), Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH), and Nickel-cadmium (NiCd) batteries) commonly used in daily household appliances and electronic products.

Waste Battery Collection Points

To provide more convenient collection channels, in addition to the 50 public garbage rooms distributed across all districts of Macau, the Environmental Protection Bureau, and the Macau Special and Hazardous Waste Treatment Station, the Environmental Protection Bureau is collaborating with relevant government departments, merchants, and institutions to increase collection points in phases.
