Overview
The 9th Huacan Award Cross-Strait Young Design Competition aims to explore new paths for integrated development across the Taiwan Strait, deepen economic and cultural exchange and cooperation, promote interaction among young people from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and overseas, foster win-win cooperation in cultural and creative industries, and enhance the quality of talent cultivation in art and design among university students. The Macau region is now calling for entries!
Competition Theme
Integration
Eligibility
- Young in-service teachers, current students, and young designers from higher education institutions in Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
- Overseas Chinese young in-service teachers, students, and designers.
- Participants must be aged 45 or below (born on or after January 1, 1979).
Competition Structure
A two-tier system (Regional Competition and Final Competition) is implemented for Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and overseas regions.
1. Regional Competition
- Organized by the leading unit of each region.
- 35 competition zones in total: 31 in Mainland China, 1 each in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and 1 overseas zone.
- Winning works from each region are selected for the Final Competition.
2. Final Competition
- Phase 1: Online review of works selected from regional competitions.
- Phase 2: On-site review for the top 50% of works from Phase 1.
3. Awards Ceremony & Roadshow
- The awards ceremony will be held in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province.
- Finalists may participate in a physical product roadshow (presenting design concepts for graphics, digital multimedia, etc.) with a 5-minute presentation.

- Regional Competition Review: By September 15, 2024 (17:00)
- Final Competition: By November 15, 2024 (17:00)
- Awards Ceremony & Roadshow: Late November 2024

Important Notes
- No entry fee is required.
- Team Composition:
- Authors: Can be individual or team. A team consists of 1 primary author and up to 4 members.
- Advisors: Up to 2 advisors per entry.
- Works must be original. Plagiarism will result in disqualification and a 3-year ban.
- The same work cannot be submitted to multiple regions or categories.
- Works that have won awards in the previous 8 competitions are not eligible.
- Physical works will generally not be returned after the competition.
Prizes & Incentives
1. Final Competition Awards
- Individual (Team) Awards: Grand Prize (RMB 50,000), First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize.
- Roadshow Awards: 8 awards of RMB 20,000 each.
- Excellent Organization Award: For outstanding participating organizations.
2. Macau Regional Competition Awards
- First, Second, and Third Prizes (certificates only).
3. Additional Benefits for Finalists
- Membership in the "Huacan (Kunshan) Design Center."
- Opportunity for free incubation at "Huacan Factory" co-working spaces (Beijing, Chengdu, Zhuhai, Kunshan).
- Access to entrepreneurial services: virtual registration, startup coaching, investment incubation, and market对接.

- Create your work based on the theme and register online at the official Huacan Award website.
- Ensure all information is accurate and complete.
- Upload your work before the system closes on September 30, 2024, at 17:00.
- Qualification and work review.
- National judging and announcement of results.
- National awards ceremony (late November 2024).
- Download electronic award certificates from the official website.
