To celebrate the annual Macau Latin City Parade and involve more citizens interested in street performance, the Cultural Affairs Bureau is organizing two free workshops to add to the city's festive atmosphere. Registration is now open on a first-come, first-served basis.
Workshop Details
Street Mime Performance Workshop
- Instructor: Yao Shangde, a physical mime artist and Artistic Director of the "Wild Kids Physical Theatre" from Taiwan.
- Format: A 20-day intensive workshop guiding participants from understanding their bodies to entering the silent yet spectacular world of mime.
- Content: Includes lectures, video analysis, on-site practice, and brainstorming sessions to create a new performance for the grand parade and interact closely with the audience.
- Language of Instruction: Mandarin.
- Schedule: December 1–19, 2013. Weekdays: 7:30 PM–10:00 PM; Weekends: 2:00 PM–7:00 PM.
Stilt Performance Costume and Prop Design Workshop
- Instructor: Tutors from the Portuguese integrated arts performance group PIA (Projectos de Intervenção Artística).
- Format: Focuses on street art creation, combining performance style and creative concepts with community characteristics.
- Content: Through lectures and practical production, the workshop aims to inspire participants' imagination. Attendees will personally design and create unique performance costumes and props that fit the parade's joyful atmosphere for stilt walkers to wear on the day.
- Language of Instruction: English.
- Schedule (Lectures): November 22 – December 1, 2013. Weekdays: 7:00 PM–10:00 PM; Weekends: 3:00 PM–6:00 PM.
- Schedule (Production Period): December 6–19, 2013.
