Overview
Organized by the Macau Innovation Technology Center, the Macau Information and Communication Technology Startup Plan Competition 2016 (InnoICT Startup Plan Competition 2016) aims to cultivate more creative enterprises and promote the development of innovative ICT in Macau. This competition is designed for tertiary students. The winning teams will be provided with a genuine opportunity to implement their startup plans, along with a series of rewards and hardware/software support from the organizers, sponsors, and supporting units.
Competition Objectives
- Encourage and promote innovative thinking among Macau tertiary students.
- Foster innovation and development in local ICT, supporting students in realizing their entrepreneurial aspirations.
- Strengthen collaboration and communication between the ICT industry and the education sector.
Team Composition
- Teams must consist of 1 to 5 students, who can be freely combined from different tertiary institutions.
- At least half of the team members must hold a Macau Resident Identity Card. Macau students studying abroad may also team up with local students.
- Past winners of this competition are not eligible to participate.
- Teams may invite a supervising teacher for guidance on competition matters and plan preparation.
- The business plan presentation must be conducted in Macau.
- The business plan must be related to Information and Communication Technology.
Key Dates & Schedule
- Online Registration: April 1, 2016 – June 20, 2016.
- Mandatory Workshop: June 30, 2016. This workshop teaches students how to write a business plan and includes guest speaker experiences.
- Business Plan Submission Deadline: July 29, 2016, 5:00 PM.
- Finalist Announcement: August 12, 2016.
- Final Competition & Presentation: August 27, 2016, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
- Awards Ceremony & Results Announcement: August 29, 2016, 12:30 PM (Venue to be confirmed).

Awards & Prizes
With support from various institutions, the competition provides winning teams with the opportunity to implement their startup plans.
- 1st Place: MOP 1,500 course voucher.
- 2nd Place: MOP 1,000 course voucher.
- 3rd Place: MOP 500 course voucher.
Important Notes:
- Winning teams must establish a company and commence their startup plan in Macau to receive startup funding and business incubation facilities/support services.
- If the champion team forfeits the opportunity, the benefits will be passed to the runner-up team that establishes a company, and so on.

How to Apply & Submit
- Registration: Complete the online form at www.manetic.org/innoict/reg between April 1 and June 20, 2016.
- Submission: By 5:00 PM on July 29, 2016, submit the following to the Macau Innovation Technology Center (7th Floor, Macau Square, 43-53A Avenida do Infante D. Henrique, Macau):
- Business plan computer file (.pdf or .doc) on a CD or DVD.
- (Optional) A business plan introduction video of no more than 5 minutes.
- Finalist List: A maximum of 10 finalists will be announced on the official website on August 12, 2016.
Additional Information
- A business plan template is available for download at www.manetic.org/innoict/bsnplan.
- Each plan should not exceed 30 A4 pages (including images, charts, and appendices) and can be written in English or Chinese.
