The Macau Federation of Trade Unions (工聯總會) has consistently advocated for workers' rights and provided services to the public since its establishment. In its early days, it supported unemployed and struggling workers by distributing relief rice and initiating welfare programs, a mission that has continued uninterrupted.
In 1993, the Macau Federation of Trade Unions Welfare Foundation (工聯福利基金會) was formally established. Its primary focus is providing emergency assistance to workers whose lives are suddenly thrown into hardship due to unforeseen incidents such as workplace accidents or serious illnesses. For non-urgent cases, the foundation assesses the situation and either provides help directly or refers individuals to relevant government agencies and charitable organizations for follow-up support. Every year before the Spring Festival, the Welfare Foundation organizes year-end visits to deliver warmth and festive greetings to financially struggling worker families and vulnerable groups.
Due to limited resources, the Welfare Foundation organizes an annual Flag Day to raise funds for its charitable work. This event calls upon the community to support the foundation's efforts in the spirit of mutual aid and compassion.
