About the Competition
The Macau Economic Paper Competition, organized by the Macau Economic Association, serves as a platform for nurturing local economic research talent. Having been held for seven years, it has received a positive response from society.
By researching Macau's economic issues, the competition aims to contribute to the sustainable development of Macau's economy and pool wisdom to promote its moderate economic diversification. The Association continues this initiative for its eighth year and is now accepting applications.
Eligibility & Rules
- Participants must be Macau residents aged 18 or above.
- For co-authored entries, at least one author must be a Macau resident.
Competition Categories & Awards
- Categories: Open Category and Student Category.
- Awards: First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, and several Merit Awards.
- Winners will receive a certificate and a cash prize.
Research Topics
Participants must select one of the following research directions for their paper.
Student Category
- Suggestions related to Macau's participation in the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area" development.
- Research on policies for moderate diversification of economic industries.
Open Category
- Research on promoting the development and moderate diversification of Macau's various industries.
- Exploring strategies for Macau's sustainable economic development under economic theory, incorporating Macau's Five-Year Development Plan and the SAR Government's policy directions.
- Research on Macau's active participation in the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area" development.
- Initiatives and strategies for Macau to support the national "Belt and Road" initiative.
- Research on the direction, impact, and countermeasures for Macau's future economic development, incorporating the national "13th Five-Year Plan".
- Research exploring the future direction of Macau's economy based on the spirit of the 19th National Congress.
- The impact of the current global political and economic environment on Macau's economic development and corresponding countermeasures.
- Other research related to Macau's economic issues.
Judging & Results
- The Economic Association will, as always, invite economists and experts to serve as judges.
- The judging results will be published in major Chinese newspapers in Macau and on the Association's website before the end of the year.

- Interested participants can obtain the regulations from the Macau Economic Association or download the regulations, application form, and supplementary pages from the Association's website.
- Completed application forms along with the paper can be submitted directly or emailed to the Association.
