Event Overview
Welcome 2017 with spectacular celebrations across Macau! The Cultural Affairs Bureau and Macao Government Tourism Office present two major events on New Year's Eve: the "Macau Countdown Concert" at Sai Van Lake Square and the "Taipa Countdown Party" at Taipa Houses-Museum. The night will culminate in a breathtaking fireworks display of over 10,000 pyrotechnics over the sea opposite Macau Tower at the stroke of midnight.
Event Details
Macau Countdown Concert
- Date & Time: December 31, 2016, 10:00 PM
- Venue: Sai Van Lake Square, Macau Peninsula
- Theme: "Dance of Culture"
- Performers: Featuring powerhouse singers Della Ding (Taiwan), Hins Cheung (Hong Kong), and JW (Hong Kong), alongside local talents including Vivian Chan, Kelvin Koo, Vyan Sin, Poon Kwan Po, Sun Weng Lam, and the band Wat De Funk.
- Stage: A special four-sided stage for an immersive, 360-degree viewing experience.
- Live Broadcast: Large screens will be set up at Senado Square, Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre, and Dr. Stanley Ho Avenue. The event will be broadcast live on TDM Chinese Channel and Radio.
Taipa Countdown Party
- Date & Time: December 31, 2016, 9:30 PM
- Venue: Taipa Houses-Museum ("Casas - Museu da Taipa"), Taipa
- Headline Performer: Hong Kong superstar Maria Cordero ("Fat Mama").
- Local Performers: A diverse lineup including singers Andy Ou Ieong, Leong Hio Wai, Lai Zan Zan, Leong Kin Pong; bands Crossline; dance group TDSM; the Filipino drum team Drumline; the Macau Vietnam Fellow Townsmen Association Dance Troupe; Bollywood Dreams Group; clowns Mas Productions With Tru & Tru Clowns; and magician Leo.
- Cultural Stalls (8:30 PM – 11:30 PM): Explore eight themed stalls representing Australia, the Philippines, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Myanmar, and Thailand, showcasing talents, crafts, and authentic cuisine from Macau's diverse expatriate and ethnic communities.
Important Information
- Admission: Free. No tickets required.
- Prohibited Items: Alcoholic beverages, aerosol cans, metallic balloons, and glass bottles are strictly prohibited to maintain order.
- Traffic: Multiple road closures and traffic control measures are expected. Details will be announced on December 30.
