Since the Historic Centre of Macao was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2005, heritage education in Macao has seen significant progress. In August 2020, Macao became the third city in China to be formally admitted as a member of the Organization of World Heritage Cities. Furthermore, in 2021, three local institutions were awarded the title of "World Heritage Youth Education Base" by the UNESCO World Heritage Training and Research Centre for the Asia-Pacific Region (Suzhou).
To maintain and enhance the international standing of the Historic Centre of Macao, raise public awareness and protection consciousness of local cultural heritage, and promote the sustainable development of heritage conservation, it is essential to implement diverse educational initiatives targeting local youth. Guided by the effective "learning by doing" educational principle, the Macao Heritage Ambassadors Association organized the "Vivid Voices: Macao World Heritage Animation Dubbing Competition" in 2022. This competition encourages Macao youth to participate in World Heritage promotion by creating dubbing for animations (produced by the Association and themed on Macao's World Heritage), thereby absorbing knowledge about Macao's heritage and history.
Winning entries will be further optimized and uploaded to the Association's social media platforms for promotion, transforming participants' efforts into tangible benefits for promoting Macao's World Heritage and amplifying their sense of achievement.
