January is not only a time for New Year celebrations and gatherings but also a perfect opportunity to admire the beautiful winter night sky. The Macao Science Centre has prepared its January 'Starry Skies' astronomy popularization series to welcome a wonderful and fulfilling year.

Lecture: Introduction to the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics

- Location: Macao Science Centre Planetarium
- Speaker: Mr. Lee Sze Hing, President of the Macao Astronomical Society
- Topic: 'When Sci-Fi Becomes Science: The Quantum Entanglement Phenomenon' – Introducing the 2022 Nobel Prize laureates in Physics (Alain Aspect, John Clauser, and Anton Zeilinger) and their contributions to entangled photon experiments, verification of Bell's inequality violations, and pioneering quantum information science.
- Admission: Free. No registration required. Tickets can be collected at the Macao Science Centre ticket office on the day of the event.
Stargazing Night: 'Starry Skies' at Long Chao Kok
- Date: Saturday, January 28, 2023
- Time: 20:00–22:00
- Location: Long Chao Kok Coastal Trail (Yuen Yan Stone), Coloane
- Activities: Guided stargazing with professional telescopes, basic astronomy knowledge and stargazing techniques, introduction to classic winter constellations (Orion, Canis Major, Canis Minor, Taurus, Gemini, Auriga, etc.), famous bright stars (Sirius, Procyon, Betelgeuse, Rigel, Pollux, Castor, Capella, Aldebaran, and the 'Three Stars of Fortune, Prosperity, and Longevity'), and observation of the Winter Triangle and Winter Hexagon.
- Admission: Free. No registration required. Interested participants should proceed directly to the event location.
