Macao Foundation Belt and Road Outbound Study Scholarship
The Macao Foundation's "Belt and Road" Scholarship for the 2019/2020 academic year is now open for applications. The program aims to promote internationalization and diversification in Macao's higher education and foster multi-directional student exchanges.
Scholarship Categories
- Outbound Study Scholarship: For students from Macao, Guangdong, and Fujian to study abroad in Belt and Road countries.
- Inbound Study Scholarship: For students from Belt and Road countries to study in Macao.
Outbound Study Scholarship Details
- Application Period: March 1 to May 17, 2019
- Number of Awards: 20
- Result Announcement: Early August 2019
Eligibility
- Must be a Macao Permanent Resident who is a graduating high school student.
- OR must be a graduating bachelor's degree student from a Macao higher education institution who is a resident of Guangdong or Fujian, China.
- Awardees must enroll in a full-time degree program in Portugal, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, or Cambodia.
Scholarship Value
- MOP 60,000 to MOP 80,000 per year, depending on the study destination.
Selection Process
- Based on document review (50%) and interview (50%).
- Candidates must score at least 50% in both components to be considered for the final ranking.
- 20 primary candidates and 4 reserve candidates will be selected.
- Results will be notified in writing within 15 working days after the interview and published on the Macao Foundation website.

Inbound Study Scholarship (Brief)
- For students from Portugal, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, or Cambodia.
- Nomination deadline: June 28, 2019.
- Applicants must be admitted to a full-time bachelor's degree program in Macao.
- Requires nomination from the home country's education department and the admitting Macao institution.
- Selection is based on document review.
- Value: MOP 100,000 per student per academic year.
