About the Competition
The Macao Economic Essay Competition, organized by the Macao Economic Association, serves as a platform for nurturing local economic research talent. Having been held for six years, it has received a positive response from the community. The Association continues this initiative for the seventh year and is now open for applications.
Eligibility & Categories
- Eligibility: Participants must be Macao residents aged 18 or above. For joint submissions, at least one participant must be a Macao resident.
- Categories: The competition is divided into two groups: Open Group and Student Group.
Awards
- Prizes include First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize, and several Merit Awards.
- Winners will receive a certificate and a cash prize.
Submission Details
- Deadline: October 31, 2017.
- Submission Limit: Participants may submit a maximum of two essays within their chosen group.
Research Scope
Participants are invited to submit papers on topics including, but not limited to:
- Policies and strategies for Macao to support the national "Belt and Road" initiative.
- Research on Macao's participation in the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" development.
- Strategies for Macao's sustainable economic development under the guidance of economic theory.
- The impact of the current global political and economic environment on Macao's economy and corresponding countermeasures.
- Further advancement and implementation of Macao's policy for appropriate economic diversification.
- Strategies for community economic development.
- Research on business operations, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
- Other studies related to Macao's economy and livelihood issues.
Format & Guidelines
- Essays must follow an academically recognized format, with titles and chapter headings chosen by the author.
- For reference, participants can consult the Association's publications: Collection of Outstanding Macao Economic Essays or the Macao Economy journal (available at www.acemacau.org/research2.php).
- Expert scholars will be invited to serve as judges. Results will be announced in major Chinese newspapers in Macao and on the Association's website before the end of the year.
