Purpose
"M ART O" is an annual event that collects art works themed around Macao. The name combines "MO" (MACAO) and "ART," meaning art in Macao.
Macao has transformed from a small fishing village into a modern metropolis, undergoing tremendous changes. However, behind the prosperity, Macao's original characteristics have gradually become blurred. This event aims to encourage Macao's youth to discover and create more artistic works themed around everything about Macao—its people, events, and objects—so that young people can learn more, care more, and develop a stronger sense of belonging towards the land they live on daily. Besides allowing participants to understand Macao better through the creative process, the exhibition period also enables viewers to experience a different Macao by appreciating the works.
Outstanding works from this event will have the opportunity to be exhibited annually at New Tribe 2. New Tribe 2 is not only a youth activity center but can also serve as a youth art center, providing a venue for Macao youth to display their art works and offering a platform for artistic exchange among young people.
