The genre-defying master of new-age music.
Remember the viral 2016 video of someone playing piano next to a melting glacier? That was musician Ludovico Einaudi's work Elegy for the Arctic, created in collaboration with Greenpeace.
Born into an Italian aristocratic family, Einaudi received rigorous training in classical music composition and piano performance. He gradually found his own path away from more serious symphonic works. His personal album Le Onde marked the formation of his unique style, garnering worldwide attention upon release and leading him into ballet, theatre scores, video installations, and especially renowned film scores such as the Black Swan trailer, the French blockbuster The Intouchables, and the Japanese suspense film The Third Murder.
Einaudi is difficult to categorize. His style is often described as "minimalist," "contemporary music," "ambient music," or "alt-classical." Regardless of preference, the simple melodies in his work deeply resonate with every listener. Because of this, Einaudi became one of the most-streamed classical musicians globally two years ago, with more followers on Spotify than Mozart. His music is beloved by critics and fans worldwide and has celebrity admirers like singer Iggy Pop and pianist Lang Lang.
This June, Einaudi, together with his band, will select pieces from his most celebrated albums, combined with unexpected stage visuals, immersing us in a captivating musical landscape and connecting with Einaudi's artistic soul.
